Why I Know One Or Two Things About Wellbeing:
After a five-year successful career as a TV news producer and a wonderfully hectic social life, I was diagnosed with a hyperactive thyroid and a few years later with Type 1 diabetes. Suddenly I was faced with a huge and scary health crisis. It seemed overwhelming at the time and for a while I was at a loss to know what to do. I would never have thought that this would turn out to be my own personal blessing.
I set off on a pilgrimage of healing.
First to India to deepen my understanding of Ayurvedic medicine, Yogic conscious living and the age-old laws of the Mystics. I was initiated into the ancient art of Yoga at the Sivananda ashram in Kerala. The Kundalini yoga kriyas that I learned brought many benefits including the increased strength of the nervous system. This has become the bedrock on which my journey back to health was able to begin.
One insight came as a surprise to me: Serotonin, (the happiness hormone!) which the body uses to regulate the brain is not produced there. It is manufactured during the regular digestive activity down in the gut! Suddenly the crucial connection between diet and mood became crystal clear to me. I had to act upon it.
I’d heard before of Dr Gabriel Cousens, the nutritionist/therapist working out of Arizona, USA. During an intensive and fascinating course with him I became more and more convinced of the importance of two things. The healing power of living food – and the deep spiritual aspect of human nutrition.
I’ve come to see that there is perfection even in chaos and that life is joyful and magical even with seemingly intractable diseases.
So…..think what you can do!
Yoga is not a single discipline. I’ve been exploring several schools of Yoga and have found them all very helpful at different times of my life.
I love sharing the knowledge and wisdom that I’ve learned.
My teaching very much reflects the combination of the powerful, strengthening masculine practice and the nurturing, restorative feminine practice Ha-Tha Yoga: The Yoga of the moon and the sun.
I wish to teach what I practice both on and off the mat.
As life is constantly changing, I adapt my teachings to the varying seasons, the fluctuating world Zeitgeist as well as to the needs of each individual student; his or her unique physical, mental and spiritual constitution.
I truly believe in the butterfly effect; the more we share, the faster we will heal the world.
Yoga is known for strengthening muscles, improves joint stability, balance and alignment.
In the classes, workshops and retreat I will give you as much information as possible to help you to directly experience the non-explicable; that you can leave the class feeling empowered to live a happier, healthier life.
Yoga is known for strengthening muscles. However, along with toning muscles, yoga also improves joint stability, balance and alignment.
Yoga is a way of life.
It’s not that you need to “Om” all day and wear an orange dress, but that you begin to become aware that we are all one together; and that our feelings, thoughts and actions come from a true sense of compassion and service to all beings.
