It is your right to be healthy and strong in your mind and body. Our mission at Sushumna Yoga is to inform and advise each person on how to achieve his/her utmost health potential. In order to reach this goal, we are using nature’s own remedies and working with experienced Indian and international wellbeing experts who know how to make the best use of all the comprehensive tools provided by the eight limbs of Yoga. The beautiful surroundings of Goa, the tranquility of the vegetation all contribute in creating a healing environment aiding you to embark on a journey for a healthier, cleaner and more rewarding life.
Assagao is beautiful, calm and relaxed. There are very nice restaurants (also with vegan, and raw vegan options) and many other beautiful places.
We work with Shala 142 (next door to Purple Valley Yoga). The Studio is spacious, airy, well equipped, and surrounded by greenery and flowers. Goa, with its perfect temperature especially during the months of November through to April, is always evergreen with its beautiful deep green sea, breathtaking sunsets, silvery sands, glorious forests, flora and fauna, a wealth of cultural heritage, stunning churches, and historic temples, a true paradise for Teacher Trainings and Retreats.
Sushumna Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, Hatha, Pranayama, Meditation and Restorative Yoga is what you will learn to teach after a Level 1 YTT. In our advanced Training the higher and most profound limbs 4 -8 will become a part of your everyday life.
I Practise Yoga at
SONJA APPEL (ERYT 500, PRYT)
Sonja moved from London to India 13 years ago and is certified by the British School of Yoga in Hatha & Meditation, a certified Vibrant Living Teacher, Santosha Yoga Teacher and has studied Sanskrit and Yoga Philosophy with the Oxford Centre of Hindu Studies. Sonja has studied intensely mainly in India and London and believes that keeping up her own eight limbed practice helps to impart her knowledge better and more succinctly.
She has pioneered her own brand of yoga called
‘Sushumna’ which is a carefully worked out
Vinyasa flow that allows us to do Asanas as a
meditation and in the process, unleashing our kundalini Shakti. The flow is spontaneous and she mixes up the Asanas in interesting ways with the help of inspiring music, always ending with a deep relaxing meditation. As in Ashtanga - drishti, bandhas, ujjayi breath & vinyasa is always employed. Her spiritual Guru is Sadhguru from the Isha Foundation outside Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Sonja does not believe in organised religion or dogma.
Spending time and doing courses with Sadhguru has helped Sonja to understand her ‘calling’ much better. She believes that we can never stop learning how to be sound, well-adjusted people, with our soul, mind and body, forever striving for perfect & equal unison. Continuous study of yogic texts and yoga philosophy is essential to living a peaceful and harmonious life with our environment and people around us.
